DoctorTrey.com-S02 episode 012: A Frank Dilemma

Dr. Trey is joined by JRoQ on this program and they are joined by Zaysha. Zay and JRoQ together form the group Simple Souls and it’s actually kinda cool to hear their banter off stage. It’s generally a rough show, and probably as unsuccessful as a show can get. That in itself should be enough incentive for you to listen, or not.

Karaoke vs. Professional Singers

Posted in Hawaii Music Industry, Music, There I Said It on March 29th, 2007 by Dr. Trey

With Hawai’i Stars in yet another season (with the beautiful Mailani Makainai as a judge,) I thought It would be a great chance to talk about the differences between Karaoke and Professional singers. Last season I really enjoyed listening to Tiffa Garza and her sister Connie Cruz (both of the famous Cruz ‘Ohana) yet, not only are they Professionals, but they went on stage and played their guitar to accompany themselves. Well, if Hawai’i Stars is a “Karaoke” contest, bringing the guitar on stage is just not right, and in fact in my eyes not fair. Well, they didn’t win so maybe it was more unfair to their doing well, but take the unfairness out of the picture and I liked them the best. There I said it, you were thinking it, so you’re welcome.

Well, I’ve been to a few Karaoke bars in my life and have noticed many Read more »

DoctorTrey.com-S02 episode 011: The Daily Podcast

Dr. Trey & The Icon have absolutely no idea why they are podcasting today. They essentially have nothing to talk about. So basically The Icon comes with 2 ideas for todays program that would normally take only a minute to talk about. After hearing this show you’ll be asking yourself how do they do that?

Review of Mighty J’s Performance at Osake’s

Posted in DoctorTrey.com News on March 27th, 2007 by Dr. Trey

This past Saturday Night, I was fortunate enough to attend Mighty J’s performance at Osake’s. I have posted this on Mighty J’s website but I wanted to post it here as well. Here is my take on what I saw that night:

Apparently, no one wants to post about this so I figure I should. The biggest challenge, I ASSUMED, of bringing three talented musicians together to create a single project, would be to treat the musicians as a group rather than as three individuals. Well, I assumed wrong and as they say I “made an ass out of u and med.” Mighty J has proven to be an effective trio. Well it might be proper to say that they are an effective trio in my eyes (or ears.) After all, I have pretty much been the only person to hear everything this group has to offer, until this past Saturday night.

Mighty J along with the rest of their band members put on an impressive show at Osake’s this past Saturday night folks. I assure you that I am not the only one that felt that way. Their one hour set seemed too short, and this is coming from someone who does not enjoy going out to watch concerts! The three ladies performed many of their bound to be hits at this performance, and have truly captured the very essence of their unique yet highly Read more »

DoctorTrey.com-S02 episode 010: Bunch Of Yahoos

How crappy can a web hosting company be? Just ask the experts of crap: YAHOO! On this episode we explore exactly what we had to go through to switch servers and even explain why. You may have already noticed that the website is running as a mere shell of what it used to be. Well, listen to this episode to hear Dr. Trey’s complaint-fest. We play some non-Hawaii based music in celebration of The Icon’s Heritage. The music is from Podsafe Music star: Captain Black Jack Murphy’s Irish Stout and the song name is The Bonnie Ship The Diamond.

JRoQ is not in studio tonight, but The Icon is. It’s more nonsense than your soul can take, but if you like nonsense, this one is for you.
