We want to further explore the thoughts of the Icon and this is the reason for this show. As you may have heard, Bran has much to complain about when it comes to his “All Star Band.” Believe it or not, his thoughts have been getting a lot of support from our tens of listeners. Who’s the best Sax player in Hawaii? Just ask Bran, he apparently knows. What about Drummers? Just ask Bran, he apparently knows.

DoctorTrey.com-S02 episode 025: Throwing Your Voice On The Radio

We talk about the old Home Grown records from a long time ago. Realistically though, the only thing Home Grown these days is this terrible show. The Icon demonstrates his amazing ventriloquist skills. Listen, and you will be impressed for certain. Bran also decides to open up the Bran’s Bag To Stardom contest to ventriloquists where you the listeners get to be the judge of how good they are! We also talk about our trip to the Hawaii Music Supply grand opening, our visit with Todd Adamski who is the resident expert there and compare their store to Music Mac. We also talk about Koolau Guitar and Ukulele company and their founder John Kitakis. We inform you that King Kekai the Hip Hopster has a band now. Bran claims to be related to Econ and Akon. This is the beginning of Bran’s rant regarding musicians he doesn’t appreciate. We also discuss Bran’s views of the Merry Monarch.

We Love You, Listeners!

Posted in Podcast on April 23rd, 2007 by Dr. Trey

With all the idiotic nonsense that happens on The DoctorTrey.com Podcast, it amazes me how much our listeners still love us. This video was sent in by a listener who I shall refer to as Deej until I know that he doesn’t mind his real name mentioned. He’s been a listener for a few months and wanted to prepare this very funny clip for us. Apparently Deej is an ukulele player from Minnesota.

So I think it’s time for all of us to get our creative juices flowing and start creating more stuff for us. We like it! Keemail if you’re headed to the studio tomorrow, you might want to consider writing a song for us. Seriously though, to all of our listeners who contribute, donate or take time out of your schedules to create things for us, I’d like to extend a Mahalo nui. It is truly appreciated.

DoctorTrey.com-S02 episode 024: Ain’t No Big Ting Bruddah

We say Aloha to Don Ho on this episode, and pay tribute to him. We also talk about Paul Drewes who spends his time on KHNL news 8 mispronouncing the very name of our state. It’s Hawai’i Mr. Drewes, not Hawai’e. We also announce that Carlos Villalobos is coming to town, tune in to that episode very soon. We also talk about Amy Winehouse, Sanjaya Malakar (this program was taped well before he got kicked off and if you can’t deal with how late this is, start tuning in live,) Roxanne Darling is in the Chat, because of Twitter, and communicating live with us, and we talk about Bran’s Bag To Stardom. For some reason Bran finds it necessary to read Japanese sentences that he needs to learn from work. Sometimes it’s probably easiest to understand our comedy if you watch the shows we reference, and in this case we’re talking about 30 rock. The Icon mentions that he had a “Lost Encounter.” Oh and Taylor Hicks is probably 63 and Melinda Doolittle is not far behind.

What The Heck Happened?

We were doing so well! Yet, somehow Sanjaya Malakar got voted off of American Idol. Actually it would be more proper to say that he didn’t get voted out, but received the least amount of votes. I should also state that we really don’t even know if he voting system is true. Well, none of this matters. We at DoctorTrey.com have been working hard to keep Sanjaya on. We’ve blogged about it and talked about it on the podcast, yet somehow even with our tens of listeners, we failed to keep him on. Is it because we haven’t put up a podcast for a few days now? We have 3 in the can, but I’ve been too lazy to put them up.

So now that Sanjaya is gone, we are switching our focus. We will no longer be the official keep Sanjaya on headquarters, but rather the get LaKisha Jones off headquarters. Why? Because shes already to arrogant for her own good.

The above video clip is from Saturday Night Live and it’s pretty funny, especially the crying girl part. Is that Dan Akroyd in the audience? I didn’t see the episode so I wonder if my eyes are playing tricks. It doesn’t matter I guess, vote him off too he hasn’t done anything good since Ghostbusters.

Dick Dale: Avoid Record Deals

Dick Dale tells is straight. Known as the King of Surf Guitar, Dick Dale don’t like record labels. Watch the video to learn why as he breaks down what happens to those who sign with big labels. Don’t know who he is? If you know the song Miserlou (remixed recently by the Black Eyed Peas) you’ve heard him before.

DoctorTrey.com-S02 episode 023: The Cuervo Gold

For some reason The Icon just cannot stop singing that line from a Steely Dan song called “Hey Nineteen.” This show is yet again The Icon’s effort to make up for an average show the last time. As usual, his efforts are met with disappointment. The Icon decides that the content he wants to bring to the table includes the 2 hosts interviewing each other. Now, that’s almost as idiotic as someone conducting a self-interview. Trey talks about his influences which include the legendary Peter Moon. After all the talk about Hawaii Stars and how bad it is, The Icon and Dr. Trey come up with their own plan of how to make the show a better one. We also ask the all important question of what the difference is between a DWI and a DUI. Is Sasahmon a spammer? Someone on MySpace spammed trey with his name. OH and V. Brown, don’t stop podcasting!

Twitter Me

Posted in Technology on April 15th, 2007 by Dr. Trey

The first person who told me about Twitter was Roxanne Darling of Beach Walks Fame. I don’t know how these guys hear about these things, but I’ve since learned that Twitter is taking the web by storm in much the same way that MySpace did. So I may be wrong as to what Twitter is or does, but it seems it’s basic purpose is to let people know what you are doing when you are doing it. From my limited experience, it seems that I can even update it from my cell phone. So…here’s the problem. Right now I only have 3 twitter friends. I think I need more because I’m sure everyone wants to know what I’m doing right? So head over to my twitter page and befriend me.

Perhaps Hawai’i’s best known and original icon, Don Ho, Passed away early this morning of heart failure. Of course he was best known for his hit song “Tiny Bubbles,” and more recently, for undergoing an experimental stem-cell procedure in Thailand. You might recall that recently Don Ho got married to his shows producer Haumea Hebenstreit. So, thanks for the music Mr. Ho and for putting music from Hawai’i on the map. Don Ho was 76 years old. There I Wrote It

Posted in There I Said It on April 14th, 2007 by Dr. Trey

Ok so, Nick Ponce aka Mr. Nick has informed me that I can’t technically say “There I Said It” or use it as a category because I didn’t technically say it. As you may have heard on our podcast episode called “Ponty,” Nick is trying to prove himself as a smart person, but has thus far been unable to do so. This is a feeble attempt on his part to prove his worth as a MENSA member wannabe. So, I would like to go on record by saying that whenever write something on this blog that is categorized as “There I Said It,” I’m actually saying it before I write it. Thank you.
