Posted in DoctorTrey.com News on July 17th, 2007 by Dr. Trey

You know we have this ongoing thing with 808talk and their host V. Brown. We’re always picking on them, but you folks need to know that this man is truly a mastermind of the internet and computer programming. Vern’s 808talk podcast is always top rated as his show offers great content. Well, this post is not about his podcast but rather about his webplayer for DoctorTrey.com. Here’s the thing, prior to Vern’s webplayer, you would need to click on the link to direct you to either itunes or perhaps winamp. Now, if you want to listen to DoctorTrey.com Radio or the live podcast, just hit the play button and you’re streaming! Thank you Vern and 808talk for hooking us up. We’ll put it to the test this coming Sunday! I think you should also know that you can actually now play my show on your website. That would be much appreciated. Here’s the link.

Jake On Sellaband

You heard him on our program, and just today, Jake Kongaika was on TV. Finally local news media, KHNL News 8, decided to pick up his story. He didn’t mention DoctorTrey.com, he probably just needs to be reminded. Read about it and view the story here. And here are a few links:

Mighty J music video, Tuesday July 3rd OC16

Posted in DoctorTrey.com News on July 3rd, 2007 by Dr. Trey

Mighty J

Maybe you’ve heard, maybe you haven’t but I feel compelled to tell you that Mighty J’s video will debut on OC 16’s Overdrive live. I have seen the video and I must tell you that this is one of the best videos I have ever seen from Hawaii. The song is Girls Night Out. Mighty J is actually hosting the program that will feature their video. After the video airs, you can expect to see the video online in many different places including Mighty J TV, Beach Walks With Rox, 808Talk, and of course right here on DoctorTrey.com. This would be the first time a music video would not only hit traditional TV, but also podcasters and myspacers! The video itself was done by Jake Akuna of Akuna Entertainment. Exciting times we live in. Overdrive Live airs Tuesday July, 3rd at 6:00pm HST.

Wayne HaradaYou might think that I too often talk about how great Mighty J is, so maybe I should have someone else tell you instead. Last week, it was John Berger of the Honolulu Starbulletin, this week it’s Wayne Harada of Honolulu Advertiser. He even created a new word using my name! Trey-mendous! Thanks Wayne.

Hawai’i 78, what’s the real deal?

Posted in DoctorTrey.com News, Hawaii Music Industry, Video on June 17th, 2007 by Dr. Trey

[QUICKTIME http://doctortrey.com/video/KawikaCrowley.mp4 http://doctortrey.com/images/dtdcposter.mov 320 257]

Remember when we posted about Kawika Crowley and how he’s the guy who co-wrote Hawai’i 78? For those who are unaware, Hawai’i 78 is a classic song recorded by The Makaha Sons Of Ni’ihau and more recently by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Well, now that this video thing is so easy to do, i decided to have Kawika do a short clip about the song and sing a bit of it too. He sings, of course, the right words. For more information about the true story of Hawaii 78 go to the official website. Oh and before i forget, according to Kawika, this is the only place you will hear or see Kawika perform this song.

Mighty J Reviewed in the Starbulletin

Posted in DoctorTrey.com News, Hawaii Music Industry, Music on June 15th, 2007 by Dr. Trey

John Berger
John Berger, a professional listener of music, has reviewed Mighty J in today’s Honolulu Starbulletin. It just goes to show that even someone who’s job it is to listen to music also thinks Mighty J is good stuff.

Oh and FYI another magazine that releases once per week has a feature on Mighty J as well. Someone tell me why I’m not mentioning the name of the magazine. Can you figure it out?
