Where ʻUkulele’s Come to Smile

Believe it or not, DoctorTrey.com and The Doctor’s Office first started off as an ʻukulele school called Four Strings ʻUkulele Studio. At that time, Four Strings was the fastest growing school for ʻukulele in the World. Why? Well, it was where Nylon and Wood felt most comfortable about being with eachother. Back then, Dr. Trey was the teacher to Jake Shimabukuro (now considered by many to be a world class musician.) It didn’t take long for Trey to realize that the world needed to hear the inspiring talent of Shimabukuro and so the school shifted towards music production and eventually recording rather than teaching.

The Doctor’s Office is still a production/recording facility, but we are once again offering ʻUkulele lessons. The lessons offered come from a performance/recording based position. We teach not only how to play the instrument, but the characteristics of good musicianship and the actual physical requirements of getting a good ʻukulele sound.

Dr. Trey (Tracey Terada) first started playing the ʻukulele at the young age of 5. As a teenager and young man he has won numerous talent shows, arranged music for choir (which always took first place in song competitions,) and arranged music for Brass Quintet. Later upon attending Arizona State Universtiy He has studied the art of music theory, performed at the Hawaiʻi Guitar Festival, won The Album Of The Year award from the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards for his work with Pure Heart, and has won the Producer Of The Year Award from the Hawaiʻi Music Awards.

Trey has a list of celebrity and award winning musicians he has worked with and taught ʻukulele to. He himself was taught by the great Peter Moon who is known for his skill with not only the ʻukulele but also slack guitar and composition.

Lessons are offered either in Private or Group lessons format and are given daily in Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi. Currently all lessons are taught by Dr. Trey. Prices vary according to the type of lesson so please call for the latest information. Children 7 years of age and over are welcome. For more information, please contact us, or contact the studio manager, Shane Konno at 808-699-1297.
